Zmor Gewurztraminer Russian River Valley From 1985 to 1995, Daniel Moore’s ZMOORE winery was known as the preeminent New World benchmark in high-end, barrel-fermented, dry Gewürztraminer. The original winemaker for Martinelli Vineyards, Daniel worked with Martinelli’s exceptional Gewürztraminer vines to create wine for both the Martinelli family’s label as well as his own. Then, in 1995, with a full-time job at another Russian River Valley winery (Lynmar), Daniel decided to put ZMOORE on hold.

Most recently, Daniel has been making waves - great, big, pink ones, to be precise - with his dry rosé, SoloRosa, co-owned with Jeff Morgan. In 2005, two winemakers extended their partnership to include Zmor, specialized in aromatic white wines and Pinot Noir. The new spelling of "mor" represents Morgan’s participation.

Our second vintage. Brimming with lush apricot, litchee, fig, apple, citrus and spice flavors, this barrel-fermented wine offers a stunning expression of how good Russian River grapes can be. Sourced predominantly from the Martinelli and Sara Lee vineyards, Zmor Gewurztraminer offers classically styled elegance.

Wine critic Robert Parker called the inaugural Zmor "a breakthrough," and described it by saying: "It is good to find a California Gewürztraminer that actually tastes like Gewürztraminer." With our new 2006 vintage Zmor has set the stage for its own renaissance.
