Ask any wine geek who has been buying wine for more than 10 years: From 1985 to 1995, Daniel Moore’s ZMOORE winery was known as the preeminent New World benchmark in high-end, barrel-fermented, dry Gewürztraminer. The original winemaker for Martinelli Vineyards, Daniel worked with Martinelli’s exceptional Gewürztraminer vines to create wine for both the Martinelli family’s label as well as his own. Then, in 1995, with a full-time job at another Russian River Valley winery (Lynmar), Daniel decided to put ZMOORE on hold.

Most recently, Daniel has been making waves - great, big, pink ones, to be precise - with his dry rosé, SoloRosa, co-owned with Jeff Morgan. The two winemakers have extended their partnership to include Zmor, specialized in aromatic white wines and Pinot Noir. The new spelling of "MOR" represents Morgan’s participation.

Wine critic Robert Parker called the inaugural 2005 Zmor Gewürztraminer "a breakthrough" wine. It is now sold out. Our new 2006 Gewürztraminer is now released, and displays the same lush fruit and spice found in our initial release. The wine is sourced in large part from Martinelli Vineyards as well as Sara Lee’s Vineyard - also in the Russian River Valley.

New Pinot Noirs! We have just released two new 2006 Pinot Noirs from the Russian River Valley, where we also happen to make our wine. Both are made in small quantities (about 250 cases each). Our ZMOR Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is sourced mostly from Martinelli Vineyards, while our ZMOR “Roller Coaster” comes from Saralee’s Roller Coaster Vineyard.
